Nannan Gu completed the MFA in Scenography at KU in the spring of 2015 doing her thesis on "Scenography for 'Oliver!: the Musical'”.  Coming from Yantai, China, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre with a minor in Studio Art from Saint Louis University in 2011. At KU she was a Graduate Teaching Assistant as Propmaster. For the University Theatre she designed several shows: assistant costume designer for Into the Woods, costume designer for Intimate Apparel, lighting designer for The Maderati, set designer for The Other Shore, and costume, light, and projection designer for The Last Cyclist. Nannan's theatrical design for Hamletmachine was selected to the USITT American Student Exhibit in Prague Quadrennial 2015.  Her light design for Hamletmachine also won the 'Regional Lighting Designer - Honorable Mention' award in KCACTF Region V Festival XLVI. Her scenic model for La Boheme won 1st place in the "Regional Scenic Design" award in KCACTF Region V Festival XLV.
