Acting

Jeanne Averill has been a professional actress and educator in and around the Kansas City and Lawrence area for over 40 years.

She received a BS in Education with an emphasis on English and Theater from KU and her MA in theater from that institution as well. In 2002, Jeanne was named the Lawrence Secondary Teacher of the Year, and she went on to become a semi-finalist for the Kansas Teacher of the Year in 2003.Most of Jeanne’s educational work has been in theater. In 1989, Jeanne was awarded the Kansas Theater Teacher of the Year by the Association of Kansas Theaters. She was named National Theater Teacher of the Year in 2000 by The American Alliance for Theater in Education (AATE).

Currently she is teaching classes at the Lawrence Arts Center and in Kansas City as well as performing.  She is member of SAG and Actor’s Equity and has performed in almost all the major equity theaters in the Kansas City area.
